■ Artist Story: Lin Xingyue was born in Taichung in 1939. In high school, he was enlightened by Yang Qidong and studied landscape sketching. After graduating from the Fine Arts Department of National Taiwan Normal University, he moved to Europe to study painting. The painting style of the 1970s tended to be surreal, using mysterious colors to express objects that transcended life and death and time, such as the sun, moon, and animal bones. After 1980, the theme of creation was more focused on interpreting Taiwan’s natural climate.
