Demonic Sword "Stealing Radiance"
Legend has it that a former wielder of this sword achieved an undefeated reputation alongside it. The specifics of this undefeated status, the circumstances, and the methods have been lost to time through generations of change. Many who have held the sword are said to be unable to grasp its true handling secret, each interpreting it in their own way.
Multiple photographs are available for reference.
Upon its completion, this blade was the longest in the authentic "Swift Cut Sword" lineage. To preserve its swift-cutting feel, the handle was made longer, and the blade's width was slightly tapered compared to classic forms, while striving to retain its essence.
The "Swift Cut Sword" series is characterized by its short, fierce, and agile form. The long handle allows the user to decide their grip position and center of gravity based on the situation. With a long handle, it can even be wielded with two hands when necessary.
The "Swift Cut Sword" path branches into two: wielding with a single hand, or wielding one sword in each hand. Those who wield two swords are further divided into two groups: those who use one sword to parry and the other to attack, creating a stance of block and strike; and those who move with fluid grace, attacking with both hands like a sword dance.
With time, the wood will deepen in color, becoming even blacker. As it was freshly completed when photographed, it had not yet transformed into its darkest state. It will generally be a shade darker than what is shown in the pictures, evolving into a demonic blade with a subtly purple sheen, approaching pure black, with faint, mystical wood grain.
Overall length: 59.3 cm. Widest point: 5.3 cm.
Handle length: approximately 22 cm.
Blade Material: African Blackwood (Purpleheart Sandalwood) - currently considered endangered.
Gaps in the material have been filled with brass. This adds another layer of texture, a wabi-sabi born not of absence but of deliberate addition. The filled areas initially exhibit golden grain patterns.
African Blackwood is classified among the densest and hardest woods today. Its color ranges from deep purplish-brown to near black. It is smooth, dense, with few pores and rich oil content. It is a notoriously difficult wood to source, known for its tendency to hollow (known as "ten sandalwood, nine hollow"). It also significantly wears down tools. The wood grain is clear and varied, earning it the title "Emperor's Wood."
