Gedeb is a remote area where the farmers are producing impressive and delicious coffee. Communities around Gedeb reach some of the highest growing elevations for coffee in the world. Chelchele is one of the communities East of Gedeb. The fresh-picked cherries are delivered by the farmers at Tracon’s Banko Chelchele washing station, and sorted as soon as they arrived looking for uniformity and ripeness, once the sorting is completed, the Cherry is taken to African beds to dry out, the drying phase will take around 3 weeks, during the drying the coffee is moved during the day and covered at night to avoid mould. The dried cherries are stored for a while to stabilize moisture, then are hulled and transported to Capital City for final milling and export.
