**[Designer Chamil CHAMILGARDEN]**
With a pure passion for stamp carving, Chamil is a stamp artist who dedicates each day to meticulously carving stamps and also teaches stamp carving. Residing in Taiwan, Chamil lives in an old apartment in Taipei, diligently carving and creating stamps. Previously working as an editor for magazines and books, Chamil is now a full-time stamp designer. Hand-crafted creation stamps are released seasonally, with published works no.1 to no.8, featuring over 100 stamps in the 8th collection. Published books include: "A Handmade Life in 12 Hours a Week," "Rubber Stamps, Open the Door!", and "12 Lessons for Beginner Rubber Stampers: Next Stamp Class." Using erasers as the primary material for stamp carving, each stamp is slowly etched with deliberate strokes.
Chamil's stamp designs often combine everyday discoveries, scenery and encounters from travels, and cherished interests (text / flowers & plants / geometric patterns / nature / architecture, etc.). These elements are then deconstructed and reassembled, with intricate layering of lines and planes, accented by minimalist main and secondary lines, foreign text, and personal symbols used as markers to compose the stamp imagery. Chamil enjoys pairing stamps and colors, orchestrating the solos, collaborations, and repetitions between stamps of various sizes. Many graphic designs also originate from snippets of stamps, extended through patterns of stamping and pairing (e.g., postcards / washi tape).
