The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application, followed by a 20-hour firing process at 1260°C. This intense heat allows the glazes to shrink and flow within the kiln, creating the mesmerizing patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will fail to achieve the characteristic peacock feather pattern. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessively high temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the cup and the plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Despite years of dedicated practice, the subtle variations remain difficult to predict with absolute certainty. It is precisely this inherent unpredictability that imbues each finished piece with its unique preciousness. The artist hopes this work inspires others to embrace hope when facing adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to ultimately unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
