The first comet discovered in Taiwan - Comet Lulin
Teacher Lin Qisheng and Mr. Ye Quanzhi, a student of Guangzhou University on July 11, 2007
The comet was discovered using the Lulin Observatory’s 40-centimeter telescope.
The near-Earth asteroid 2007 NL1 was also discovered at this time
Comet Lulin was closest to the Earth on February 24, 2009, and its brightness reached 5th magnitude.
What’s special is the phenomenon of antitail “reverse tail”.
The other dome observatory in the picture is the future home of the two-meter telescope XD
