Comet Lulin - The First Comet Discovered in Taiwan
On July 11, 2007, Professor Ye Quanzhi, a student from Guangzhou University, and Mr. Ye Quanzhi discovered this comet using the 40cm telescope at the Lulin Observatory.
Near-Earth asteroid 2007 NL1 was also discovered at this time.
Comet Lulin made its closest approach to Earth on February 24, 2009, reaching a magnitude of 5.
Notably, it exhibited the "antitail" phenomenon.
