VANDAL Black Metal Series As death metal became trendy in 1992, it no longer met the expectations of some. They turned to black metal, only for it to become the new trend. They exerted all efforts to use extreme imagery and lyrics, attempting to scare off posers from the black metal scene. Every time they saw someone still "liking" and wanting to be their "friend," they had to go even crazier, even accelerating their departure and trying to shake off followers, ultimately evolving into the propagation of pure madness. The series' concept is inspired by the unlikable and highly controversial theme of black metal, clearly driven by personal preference. Initially, I encountered this culture through some peculiar anti-social incidents (or rumors). What began as simple fascination with those wild events evolved into spending time deeply understanding the context, development, and evolution of black metal culture. I discovered many parallels with VANDAL's philosophy, which only made me more captivated. I don't want to introduce it through excessive romanticization or by trying to make others like it.
