Hand-thrown, trimmed, carved, and glazed, fired in a gas kiln at 1230°C with reduction firing. The glaze application is entirely dependent on the feel of the hands at the time of spraying. The glaze color will vary with the reduction atmosphere in the kiln, resulting in similar pieces, but rarely identical ones! The body of the bowl is formed on a slow-turning potter's wheel, intentionally preserving the marks of the maker's hands. The rim is then carefully carved to evoke the appearance of rolling mountain ranges. The base is finished with a freehand, rugged knife technique, echoing the design of the body. The glaze is a snow-white crackle glaze, where natural, random shrinkage creates a texture reminiscent of snow-covered earth, capturing a landscape within the bowl. Can be used as a tea-brewing vessel (not suitable for Japanese matcha ceremonies), tableware, a flower vase, a water container for tea ceremonies, or a waste receptacle...
