Soda Blue and Khaki Iridescent Roman Glass Earrings with Moss Agate and Aquamarine

These are color-asymmetrical earrings featuring iridescent Roman glass in soda blue and khaki, connected with moss agate and aquamarine. Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BC - 395 AD). These pieces are fragments of ancient vessels, polished and drilled with holes. Iridescence occurs when glass is buried underground for extended periods, causing a chemical reaction between the glass and soil components, resulting in this sparkling sheen. Not all glass buried for a long time develops iridescence; this phenomenon only appears when specific conditions align. Beautiful iridescent sparkle can be seen on the sides of both glass pieces. There are some chips visible on both fragments. The colors of the glass itself are soda blue and khaki. The iridescent shine appears depending on how light hits it. (Roman glass dimensions: 1.9 cm length, 1.4 cm width) The delicate, ornate pieces at the top are from necklaces or other adornments that once held antique beads. Peeking from beneath the finely decorated brass caps are blue-toned Indopacific beads. The origin of Indopacific beads is said to be the 2nd century BC. These particular beads are excavated artifacts from Indonesia, dating back to around the 10th century – making them over 1000 years old! Moss agate and aquamarine with a cut finish have been added.
