Karatsu Ware Kintsugi Screw-Back Earrings, Black, White, Mishima Pattern, Apatite, Natural Stone, Traditional Craftsmanship No.166

This is a collaborative creation with Hakka Kiln, a pottery studio based in Imari City, Saga Prefecture. We paired apatite with round pottery fragments adorned with white and black Mishima patterns. While the pottery fragment itself features a traditional Japanese pattern in a calming black hue, it also evokes the appearance of floral motifs. After the kiln master meticulously applied the Mishima patterns, each piece was individually hand-carved into a round shape and fired. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to beautifully accent the piece even when viewed from the side, adding a touch of elegance. These accessories are perfect as a statement piece to elevate both casual and elegant outfits. This piece utilizes a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi with actual tree sap lacquer, this method uses adhesive for bonding.
