Creator: Min-Jie | Moderate Intellectual Disability
Maria Social Welfare Foundation, Vocational Training Center, Culinary Team
Min-Jie was born with intellectual disabilities due to oxygen deprivation to her brain, which also affects her verbal expression.
She also has congenital visual impairment, lacking a sense of depth perception.
Despite her visual challenges, she began by sorting vegetables.
She took on the tasks of stirring large pots of food and plating dishes, becoming a capable assistant in the culinary team for over 10 years.
While she may not perceive depth, Min-Jie expresses her joys and sorrows through vibrant, high-contrast flat color blocks, bold lines, and a rich palette.
And just like anyone else, after class, she would secretly give her favorite teachers little notes filled with drawings of them.
