These are SDGs jewelry pieces with kintsugi, upcycled from pottery by Shokeian, a ceramic artist based in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Broken or chipped pottery that is no longer in use is upcycled, repaired with kintsugi, and then transformed into accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring the beauty of nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to you, by breathing new life and possibilities into them as modern accessories that connect to the future.
Pale pink and white pottery fragments are joined with kintsugi and adorned with pale pink freshwater pearls.
The sides of the pottery fragments are also finished with kintsugi, allowing the gold to shimmer and add a touch of elegance even from the side.
These pieces are perfect as a stylish accent to elevate both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: Pottery fragment: 20 x 13mm
Hardware: Screw-back clip-on earrings (Hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Despite being pottery, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind accessory, they make an ideal gift. Please consider them for a special present for your loved ones.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we cannot accept requests for hardware changes or future reproductions.
*We will send the item pictured. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the photos.
*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that mends broken or chipped pottery and porcelain using lacquer and gold powder. These pieces are crafted using a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi which uses actual tree sap lacquer (urushi), this method uses adhesive for the main bond.
The kintsugi areas use lacquer (a specially formulated paint, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
