She currently resides in Taiwan, diligently carving and crafting stamps in an old apartment in Taipei. Previously an editor for magazines and books at a publishing house, she now dedicates her time to stamp design. Each season, she releases handmade original stamps, with published collections ranging from volumes 1 to 8, featuring over 100 stamps in total. Her published books include "A Handmade Life in 12 Hours a Week," "Rubber Stamps, Open the Door!", and "12 Lessons for Beginner Rubber Stamp Carving: Next Stamp Class." Using erasers as her primary carving material, each stamp is meticulously hand-carved, stroke by stroke. Her stamp designs often draw inspiration from everyday observations, travel experiences, and cherished interests, combining elements such as text, flowers, geometric shapes, nature, and architecture. She constructs her stamp imagery through deconstruction and recombination, employing overlapping lines and planes, along with minimalist primary and secondary lines and foreign text, incorporating symbols she uses for notation. Shami enjoys pairing stamps of varying sizes, creating unique solo performances or collaborative arrangements through repetition. Many of her graphic designs are derived from snippets of her stamps, extended through the application of printing techniques (e.g., postcards/washi tape).
