Single Flower Vase with Split Lapis Lazuli and White Glaze

This single-flower vase is crafted from coarse red clay, evoking the warmth of pottery. It's shaped on the potter's wheel, inspired by the expanding oval form of raindrops or eggs. The piece features a split glaze application: lapis lazuli blue on the upper half and white on the lower. The colors created by the two glazes bring to mind the scenery of a snowy night. Blue ceramics are said to pair well with colors such as white, yellow, and pink. Enjoy coordinating them with various plants like baby's breath, statice, billy buttons, or rose hips. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously handcrafted. I have a potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln in my home studio. Due to the porous nature of pottery, a water-stopping agent will be applied to ensure water retention. With this treatment, we have confirmed that water does not seep out for approximately 40 hours. However, there's a slight possibility that evaporated moisture may emerge from the bottom, creating a slightly damp feel. If this is a concern, placing a fabric coaster underneath can provide peace of mind during use. I experiment with various glazes and clays, seeking the best combinations, and create a diverse range of pottery in both color and form.
