Upon first encountering this pendant, it evoked the image of European church rose windows. While church rose windows are often stained glass viewed from the interior, their exterior reveals the structural framework, a complex arrangement of lines creating a beautiful facade.
Every detail, from the inside out, is meticulously crafted. The outermost ring features a wavy arc, encircling an octagon commonly found in the towers of ancient Romanesque architecture. Radiating outwards from the center, we first see starburst-like firework patterns, followed by clusters of floral motifs, and finally, gemstones adorning each corner like scattered stars. The paste-cut glass, with its distinctly handcrafted facets, refracts a spectrum of rich colors from various angles. Although a few stones have slightly darkened with age, their inherent elegance and delicate charm were precisely what captivated me and made me bring it home without hesitation. It’s like an eternally captivating noblewoman, maintaining a bright and refined aura wherever and whenever.
〖 Belle Époque 〗
The "Belle Époque" period, almost overlapping with the "Art Nouveau" movement, emphasized craftsmanship and refined, elegant elements. This reflected the societal atmosphere of burgeoning art, culture, and industry, filled with hope for the future. Jewelry from the Belle Époque primarily featured white metals and gemstones, lending a brighter, cleaner aesthetic. Romantic details like bows, ribbons, and floral motifs were widely incorporated, earning it the nickname "Garland Era."
