This single-flower vase is crafted from coarse red earthenware clay, which imparts a warm, ceramic feel. It's shaped on the potter's wheel, inspired by the gentle curves of raindrops or eggs. The upper portion is finished with a unique, beautifully crystalline yamabuki (golden yellow) glaze, while the lower part features a warm, matte glaze. The natural earthiness of the red clay contributes to its warm, inviting finish.
All stages of production—from clay kneading and shaping to trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously handcrafted in my studio, which is equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln.
Due to the porous nature of pottery, a waterproofing agent has been applied to prevent leaks. This treatment has been tested to hold water for approximately 40 hours without seepage. However, there may be instances where a small amount of evaporated moisture emerges from the base, creating a slightly damp sensation. If this is a concern, placing a fabric coaster underneath will ensure comfortable use.
I explore various glazes and clays, constantly seeking the best combinations to create a diverse range of pottery in both color and form. Each piece is unique, with no two ever being exactly alike, yet they share a similar aesthetic, making them truly one-of-a-kind. It would bring me great joy if you could find a piece that resonates with you.
I hope you will enjoy this piece as a small touch of color in your room or on your table.
