This tea jar was wheel thrown from my small rooftop studio where I am now writing this description. I look out at the Yamingshan mountains and draw in a breath.
This jar was made from two different Taiwanese clays. I mixed the clay together which is why you see the two swirling colors at the base of the pot. I glazed the jar with a satin white, and added an iron color to the rim for interest. All my glazes are food-safe.
An interesting feature of this piece is that I etched a bamboo design. I did this when the clay dried out a little. It gives the jar a 'front' and also adds interest. I believe the hand of the maker must be visible on each piece that I make.
I attempted to make a unique jar that could be used for storing your precious tea. The jar comes with a corked lid.
My seal is stamped at the top section of the etched bamboo design.
I make pottery to hopefully add pleasure to someone's daily life. That is the feeling that motivates me to create functional items out of clay.
Be the owner of a handmade tea jar from the beautiful island of Taiwan.
