Vintage decorative wall plates from the Phönix series made by Villeroy & Boch at their Mettlach factory in Germany.
The founding of V&B dates back to 1748 when Francois Boch, together with his three sons, began manufacturing ceramic crockery. In 1766, he received permission from Empress Maria Theresia to open a factory at Septfontaines in Luxembourg, and, as a sign of recognition, his Faiencerie is permitted to call itself Manufacture Impériale et Royale.
The mark at the back of the plate was in use in the 1950s and 1960s. It is undamaged with some surface marks, especially where the metal grips the plate, due to usage as well as possible slight production flaws and signs of aging. The photographs are a part of the description.
