Wire Frame Embroidery Brooch

Each piece is entirely handmade with embroidery. The design is an original arrangement based on the "Kogin-zashi" (Kogin embroidery) technique passed down in the Aomori Prefecture region of Japan. The patterns are formed by stitching the thread horizontally only, then layering these stitches vertically. We determined the stitching positions after repeatedly adjusting the pattern to ensure that the flowers and butterflies appear well-balanced, expressing a small world within the round shape. The wire, which is bent and shaped individually, acts as a frame to highlight the embroidery. ・・・・・・ What is "Kogin-zashi"? It is an embroidery technique where threads are only stitched horizontally through the weave, counting the warp and weft threads of the fabric.
