Fired at 1260°C for 20 hours, the intense heat causes the glaze to contract and flow within the kiln, forming the dynamic patterns and fluidity reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of each glaze layer's thickness and the kiln's temperature curve. Too thin or insufficient temperature will fail to produce the "peacock display" pattern, while too thick or excessive temperature can cause the glaze to run onto the kiln shelf, potentially damaging the cup and the shelf itself. Even ambient temperature can influence the final outcome. Countless factors converge, and despite years of dedicated study, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this complexity that imbues each finished piece with its precious value.
