**Taiwan Barbet**
The Taiwan Barbet is an endemic bird species to Taiwan. Due to its habit of excavating tree cavities for nests with its beak, it is also known as the Taiwan Spectacled Barbet.
The Taiwan Barbet measures approximately 20-23 cm in length. Its body is predominantly emerald green, with a largely blue head. Yellow markings are present on its forehead and throat, while small patches of red appear on its lores and foreneck. The Taiwan Barbet's call is monotonous yet loud, resembling the sound of a wooden fish tapping, "tok-tok-tok...". Its colorful plumage also led older generations to affectionately call it the "Flower Monk."
**IUCN Status: Least Concern (LC)**
