ARRELS PICTÒRIQUES:Diàleg entre CORBELLA i CHIEH - Indie Press - Paper Green

Product Description

ARRELS PICTÒRIQUES:Diàleg entre CORBELLA i CHIEHis a bilingual book combining Catalan and Chinese languages, marking the first and most artistic encounter between these two vastly different linguistic forms in publishing. The title "Two Cities" refers to Keelung artist Wang Jie from Taiwan and Catalan artist Gabriel. Inspired by their respective homelands, they each present 20 illustrated essays that reflect the essence of their hometowns, nourished by the distinct cultural and artistic traits of East and West. Addressing recent discussions on regional revitalization, this book serves as a response to globalization by connecting it with local culture. Yet, this connection does not simply incorporate localities into the mainstream but actively sustains the vitality of remote areas. "More local, more global"—through this book, the two artists from opposite ends of the world open a window between the East and the West, forming a bridge through their art. They illustrate the beauty and value of their homelands, confronting the universal disregard for land and history with the assertion that art is the remedy for coarseness, and land with history is our true home. Recommendation by Peng Junheng (Chairman of the Taiwan Aesthetic Foundation) "Two small towns that may not stand out on the world map are eternal homelands in the hearts of the artists. This unique sentiment is now fully and unreservedly presented before us with care and reverence." Recommendation by Àlex Susanna (Catalan Poet) "Each artwork is like a captivating phrase in a musical score. Only when we observe and listen to all the works together can we grasp the scale, depth, and ambition of this composition." Awards and Recommendations Winner of the 2023 Golden Pin Design Award.
