Tuareg Top with Jet & Blue Seed Beads, Shan Carnelian, Ancient Agate, Tuareg Beads, Old Orissa Brass Necklace The TOP piece originates from the Tuareg people, nomadic tribes of the Sahara Desert in Africa. It carries the distinct charm of handmade craftsmanship! A cool, silver-toned top. (TOP size: 2.7cm length x 1.4cm width - including the loop.) The multi-faceted beads with triangular and square patterns are also metal beads from the Tuareg people. Small Indian silver accents are placed beside the TOP. (They do not jingle.) The oval orange beads are carnelian used by the Shan people (Myanmar). While the exact age is unknown, they are vintage pieces over 50 years old. These are small carnelian beads with beautiful banding. (Vintage Carnelian size: 1cm length x 0.6cm diameter) We've incorporated ancient agate beads with white and brownish-black stripes. These were unearthed in the Indus River basin, spanning regions like Pakistan and India, and are approximately 2000 years old. Despite their small size, they possess a lovely charm and showcase beautiful striations. The blue beads are antique beads known as Indopacific beads. The origin of Indopacific beads is said to date back to the 2nd century BCE. These particular beads are artifacts excavated from Indonesia, dating back an astonishing 1000 years or more, around the 10th century! The jet-black beads are antique Venetian beads (19th-20th century). Each bead has a unique shape and size, contributing to its distinct character. The golden beads are old Orissa brass. These are old and rare beads sourced from the Orissa region of India. The clasp charm is also an old brass part that arrived from India. The flexibly bent clasp and the beads on the loop are Karen silver. The small Karen silver beads on the clasp are individually stamped! It's mind-boggling to think that each one is done by hand... ◇Karen Silver◇ This silver is crafted by the hill tribes living in the Thai-Burmese border region. Each piece is handmade, and it is said to have a very high purity. Connected with waxed cord, it may feel a bit stiff at first but will become supple with wear.
