As a natural material, and due to the minimal-damage vegetable tanning process used by the tannery, the leather surface may inevitably show minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "vein marks." We strive to avoid these during the cutting process or place them on less visible or non-stress-bearing parts of the product. 2. Pure Hand Stitching Our products are not made with sewing machines; all stitching is done entirely by hand. Before stitching, special diamond chisels are used to punch precise holes in the leather, creating the signature wavy stitch pattern that distinguishes our work from machine-sewn items. While this significantly increases production time, it is a crucial step where leather artisans imbue each piece with soul and a warm, tactile feel. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges The final step before completion is the meticulous burnishing and sealing of the leather edges. To achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish, "Cutting Line" employs a unique edge-finishing method. First, sandpaper is used to repeatedly smooth the sharp edges. Then, an edge sealant is applied to create a flat surface, repeated 2-3 times. Finally, edge wax is applied, followed by vigorous polishing with a burnishing tool until the edges achieve a lustrous smoothness. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed products, "Cutting Line" currently uses imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the United States. To ensure even and natural coloration, we begin by slightly dampening the leather surface. Then, using a sponge, we apply the dye repeatedly, building the color from light to deep until the desired shade is achieved. Once dry, a color-fixing agent is applied to enhance colorfastness. Finally, the surface is lightly wiped with clean water to remove any dust and further even out the color. As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations in color exist between individual bags, making every item truly unique.
