Year of the Horse Couplets - Luxury Edition / Gold-Sprinkled Wannian Red Couplets "Accumulate good deeds, cultivate virtue." Calligraphy: Southern Song Dynasty ink rubbing from the collection of Tōfuku-ji Temple, Kyoto Quantity: Set of 2 Dimensions: 22 x 36 cm per piece Paper: 60g handmade gold-sprinkled Wannian Red paper (Taiwan-made) + 240g eco-friendly red cardstock (Taiwan-made) Printing: Letterpress Hot Foil Stamping Finishes: Matte Gold and Glossy Black (Taiwan-made gold foil) Features: The texture of the handmade Wannian Red paper is warm and organic, with subtle variations in the pulp flow creating a rich, varied grain. This paper, a bright and delicate vermilion red, is invigorating to behold. Hand-poured by artisans at a traditional paper mill in Puli, Taiwan, each sheet is then screen-printed with a stunning effect of scattered gold. Beautiful auspicious couplets selected by "A Beautiful Day Studio," hot-stamped by Taiwanese artisans using semi-handmade techniques (even the gold foil is made in Taiwan). When affixed to your door, these couplets become a daily visual delight—a work of calligraphy art, a testament to exquisite Taiwanese craftsmanship worth cherishing, and an excellent gift choice. What is Wannian Red: Wannian Red paper undergoes a special surface treatment to resist fading, hence its name. It can be either handmade or machine-made. While its fade-resistant quality is highly desirable, the main drawback of Wannian Red is its thinness, making it prone to tearing. Improvements in the "Luxury Edition Couplets": The "A Beautiful Day Studio" has laminated the thin-gauge Wannian Red paper with 240g eco-friendly red cardstock, significantly enhancing the durability of the couplet paper! You'll be surprised to see such a firm Wannian Red Xuan paper for the first time! Adhesion: 1. We recommend using double-sided fabric tape, which leaves no residue and ensures a smooth surface. 2. For those experienced, rice paste can be used; the wall can be washed clean when replacing the couplets the following year. 3. Absolutely avoid using double-sided tape or double-sided foam tape, as removing the adhesive residue from walls the next year can be extremely difficult and regrettable. 4. Height: The top of the first character should be positioned slightly above eye level. 5. If affixing to a single door, do not place the two couplets too far apart (1-2 cm is sufficient). 6. Many have asked about attaching them to ornate iron gates or barred gates; we can only suggest purchasing magnetic wooden scroll hangers (similar to scroll paintings with wooden rods at the top and bottom).
