Buses carry nearly 6.5 million passengers a day. Currently, there are nearly 700 bus routes in Hong Kong provided by five private franchised (franchised) bus service companies. Citybus Limited is one of them.
The history of Citybus began in 1979, when only one double-decker bus was used to provide shuttle bus services for the employees of the Hong Kong Dockyard. In 1981, Citybus launched the first non-patented resident bus route, Route 62R, between City One Shatin and Kowloon Tong MTR Station. It was the first fully air-conditioned bus route in Hong Kong.
As for the 118 route of this product, jointly operated by Citybus and KMB, it travels between Siu Sai Wan (Blue Bay Peninsula) and Sham Shui Po (Tokyo Street). "East Corridor Express". Many traffic accidents have occurred on this route since its inception. Among them, in 1998, when a Citybus 118 departed from Sham Shui Po to the To Lo Chi Road flyover in Wan Chai, it was suspected that the speed was too high, and it crashed and rolled over, and 3 passengers were thrown overboard. When they got out of the car, they fell to the bottom of the bridge. Since that day was the third day of the Lunar New Year, many passengers took their families to visit the New Year. As a result, there were heavy casualties. The incident resulted in 5 deaths and 54 injuries.
