The blend of purity and warmth adds depth and artistry to every cup. The porcelain work is crafted from porcelain clay, primarily composed of kaolin. Once fired, the body is dense, highly durable, and nearly non-absorbent. Its smooth surface does not retain tea flavors, ensuring the tea's aroma remains pure and lingering. The Shino glaze used originates from Mino, and is a feldspar-based white glaze. yuhuayuart applies this custom-formulated Shino glaze to the vessel, resulting in a soft, warm glaze with rich textures after firing. The ink-wash Shino style is achieved by applying the glaze using a natural splash-ink technique after an initial bisque firing. By precisely controlling kiln temperatures and the degree of reduction, the final result features intricate layering of glaze inside and out, reminiscent of fluid ink-wash painting. The smooth, glazed interior will naturally develop fine, hairline cracks—often called 'gold thread and iron wire' crackles—as it is used. Through daily tea drinking, the tea color will gradually seep into these fissures; these markings typically appear within a month, becoming more prominent after two to three months, allowing you to develop a unique patina specific to your own tea habit. The final gilding process uses 24K liquid gold (genuine gold) applied by hand and kiln-fired. The gold finish is subtle and warm, shimmering elegantly as it catches the light. Artist | yuhuayuart Born in 1980, the artist became fascinated with pottery throwing during middle school. After completing his military service, he moved to Yingge to apprentice under masters Wu Guo-rong and Wu Jian-cai, dedicating over twenty years to ceramic art. He has developed the Yohen Shino, Rock Mineral, and Purple Clay series, and successfully recreated Song Dynasty celadon firing techniques.
