Product Description:
Japanese Kutani-yaki "Shiromori" Maneki Neko ✨
Kutani-yaki is a traditional porcelain from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, renowned for its vibrant colors 🌈 and intricate patterns.
The "Kutani Five Colors" (red, yellow, green, purple, and blue) are often used to create traditional designs such as flowers, birds, and the moon.
The unique embossing of the pigment creates a three-dimensional effect.
"Hakumori" refers to a Kutani ware technique that involves painting delicate, colorful patterns on a white porcelain surface, leaving ample white space.
This allows the patterns to stand out more clearly.
This maneki-neko design embodies this principle: a predominantly white surface, accented by vibrant floral patterns. The relief of the paint creates the illusion that the flowers are alive on the porcelain surface.
The various floral patterns, including blue, orange, and green, are delicately layered.
The relief of the paint further highlights the exquisite craftsmanship of Kutani ware. Appearance and Design
The cultural significance of the Kutani ware maneki-neko: The Kutani ware maneki-neko combines traditional Japanese porcelain craftsmanship with the auspicious symbolism of the maneki-neko.
It is a work of art that combines both practicality and artistry.

Introduction to Kutani-yaki
Kutani-yaki, a dazzling gem of Japanese painted ceramics
This quintessential Japanese painted ceramic craft originates from the Minami-Kaga region in southern Ishikawa Prefecture.
It is hailed as the pinnacle of painted ceramics for its exquisite craftsmanship and vibrant colors.
With a history spanning over 360 years, Kutani-yaki has become one of Japan's most iconic porcelain crafts.
Not only renowned for its vibrant colors, but also for its innovative spirit that keeps pace with the times.
It is beloved by enthusiasts throughout Japan and around the world. Kutani-yaki takes its name from Kutani Village in Enuma District, Kaga Province (near present-day Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture).
Its origins can be traced back to the early Edo period, when porcelain production began in Kutani Village, nestled deep within the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kutani ware utilizes its unique "Kutani Five Colors"—five Japanese hard-color pigments of green, yellow, red, purple, and indigo—using "upei-e" (a technique of painting patterns onto the glaze), resulting in vibrant, richly layered visuals.
This has become one of its most distinctive features. Over time, Kutani ware has continuously innovated, blending traditional and modern designs.
While retaining its classic five-color style, it actively engages with contemporary pop culture.
