Built in 1922, the Changhua Roundhouse is situated in Changhua City at the junction of the main north-south railway lines. The roundhouse features 12 tracks and gets its name from its radial, fan-like structure. Revered by railway enthusiasts as the "home of locomotives" and the "locomotive hotel," it also has a turntable in front to change the direction of trains. It is the only remaining operational roundhouse of its kind in Taiwan.
A total of 14 generations of various train models gather within the Roundhouse:
Leading the collection are three national treasure steam locomotives: CK124, DT668, and CT273.
The diesel locomotive series is represented by Taiwan Railways' first diesel locomotive, the R6,
and the R100, manufactured by General Electric.
Among the electric locomotives are Taiwan Railways' first imported E101,
the E405 in the Puyuma livery,
the British "Grandmother" EMU100,
the EMU300, which held the record for the fastest full journey between Taipei and Kaohsiung before the Puyuma was introduced,
the push-pull Tze-Chiang Limited Express E1000,
the EMU3000, nicknamed "Mencius," and the EMU700, EMU800, and EMU900 commuter train locomotives.
