This is an SDGs-conscious barrette featuring kintsugi, upcycling pre-loved Arita ware ceramics.
We reuse broken or chipped pottery, no longer in use, and adorn them with kintsugi to create beautiful accessories.
Our concept is to make nature and Japan's enduring traditions more accessible, reimagining them as modern accessories that connect to the future, thus creating new possibilities.
The sides of the pottery fragments are finished with kintsugi, allowing the gold to subtly shine from the side, adding an elegant touch.
These are easy to pair with both casual and formal outfits.
The barrette is medium-sized, perfect for styling the top of your hair rather than gathering all of it.
Barrette size: 10cm
Barrette clasp size: 68mm
Weight: Although made from pottery fragments, they are surprisingly light and comfortable to wear.
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind accessory, making it an ideal gift.
Please consider it as a thoughtful present for your loved ones.
*The item pictured will be sent. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please be aware that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the product photos.
*Kintsugi is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that mends broken or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi using genuine lacquer derived from the urushi tree, this piece utilizes adhesive for structural bonding.
The kintsugi elements incorporate lacquer (a manufacturer-created paint, not raw urushi) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
