Design your own custom ceramic plate! A 3-hour creative session. In this class, you will: ⊹ Start with a piece of warm white clay and feel its texture in your hands. ⊹ Hand-shape and mold the clay into a unique plate. ⊹ Use colorful underglaze to paint any pattern you like. ⊹ Complete a handmade piece from scratch that is entirely your own! This is more than just a class; it is a healing experience. Come turn your whimsical ideas into a beautiful ceramic plate that can accompany you every day! ✸ Course Content ⊹ Learn the 'slab building' technique to create plates. ⊹ Use underglaze to paint patterns on your plate. ⊹ Each student will complete at least one unique piece. ✸ Plate Design You are free to decide the size and shape of your plate. However, class time is limited, so if you wish to paint more intricate designs, we recommend choosing a simpler plate shape to ensure you have enough time to paint. ✸ Fee Inclusions Instruction, American white clay, use of tools and materials, and transparent glazing by the studio. ✸ Firing Fee This fee is not included in the course price and will be charged separately based on the size of the finished work. ✸ Collecting Your Work After completion, the work must undergo two firings (bisque firing + glaze firing). The studio will notify you when it is ready for collection in approximately 3-6 weeks. Q: What kind of clay is used in the class? A: Our painting classes exclusively use American white clay. This clay has an off-white color that acts like a canvas, highlighting the vibrancy and brightness of the underglaze. ** If you need extra time to perfect your work, the additional fee is $500 per hour. 1. It is recommended to trim your nails before class to make shaping the clay easier! 2. Ceramic production involves many variables during making and firing; cracks, breakage, or glaze running may occur. We cannot offer refunds for damage not caused by human error; thank you for your understanding. 3. Upon completion, the ceramic studio will take photos of the work to share on our fan page. Please let us know in advance if you prefer not to have your photos featured. 4. If you require shipping to your home, an additional shipping fee applies. Items will be sent via courier; the studio does not assume the risk of breakage for fragile items. 5. If special circumstances require a change of date or cancellation, please notify us in advance. Courses are non-refundable and non-transferable.
