Made in Japan Introduction to Kiyomizu-yaki "Kyo-yaki" is a type of pottery that originated in the tea ceremony and spread primarily in the foothills of Higashiyama since the early Edo period. On the other hand, "Kiyomizu-yaki" refers to pottery made at Gojo-zaka, the entrance to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Currently, all pottery made in Kyoto is called "Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki". This type of glaze, known as crystalline glaze, is characterized by crystal precipitation during melting and cooling, creating beautiful flower-shaped crystal vessels that appear as if flowers have bloomed on the surface.
