If you are particular about the current condition of the plant, feel free to message the designer for photos. 🔥🔥🔥 Blue Moon, *Senecio antandroi*, originally known as "Green Spear" or "Sky Spear" (the latter sounds like "謀" in Mandarin), is a succulent belonging to the Senecio genus in the Asteraceae family. These plants are typically herbaceous, sub-shrubby, or shrubby. It's estimated there are over 1,200 species worldwide, found across various regions. The leaves of the Blue Moon are slender and curved, tapering to points at both ends, resembling a crescent moon, hence its name. Under ample sunlight, the leaves exhibit a slightly translucent quality. While the Blue Moon shares a resemblance with Blue Spruce, its leaves are more elongated. The linear leaves grow in clusters along the stem, ranging in color from green to blue. They are covered in a fine white powder, and the leaf surface features translucent vertical stripes. The stems grow upright. If you look closely at the leaves of the Sky Spear, you'll notice faint lines; these are actually transparent "windows" on the leaves! Like String of Pearls, String of Tears, or Green Horn, the Sky Spear belongs to the Asteraceae family, all of which possess transparent "windows" to enhance light absorption. Spring and autumn mark the peak growing seasons for the Blue Moon. It thrives in temperatures between 10-25 degrees Celsius and will continue to grow even during warmer winter days. Due to its exceptionally robust root system, the Blue Moon grows faster than many other succulents. When repotting, it's recommended to use a slightly larger and deeper pot to provide ample space for its base, encouraging the growth of more lateral shoots. If the plant experiences underwatering or enters dormancy, its leaves will close. A well-cared-for Blue Moon truly shines, displaying beautiful, deep blue foliage. Similar to Blue Spruce, the Blue Moon has a similarly strong and developed root system. During summer, it should be placed in a cool, shaded area, and watering can be increased slightly, provided there is good ventilation. This generally prevents pests and diseases, making it a resilient and easy-to-care-for succulent. | Sunlight | The Blue Moon is a hardy plant that enjoys plenty of sunlight, with upright stems. During spring and autumn, it can receive full sun. In summer, provide partial shade, but still ensure adequate light to prevent stretching. Reduce watering slightly during this period. | Watering | The Sky Spear is a succulent that loves water. It doesn't stop losing moisture even on cloudy days, so it requires a bit more hydration. Water when the leaves begin to shrivel and appear sunken from lack of water. It's unlikely to stretch excessively from too much water, making it a very compliant and easy-to-care-for succulent! Once it's fully hydrated, its leaves become plump and rounded, which is incredibly charming. You can water it every two days, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. It can tolerate outdoor cultivation; just be mindful to protect it from rain during the rainy season. Prolonged damp soil in summer may lead to stem rot near the base. | Propagation | Typically propagated by stem cuttings. Most succulents in the Senecio genus cannot be propagated from leaf cuttings. Enthusiastic and curious individuals are welcome to try leaf propagation, but it's advisable not to hold high expectations. | Flowering | The Blue Moon blooms in the summer.
