Pottery Brooch: Tree House

Starting with a sketch, the clay is shaped and dried multiple times to refine its form. We carefully fill the kiln, producing enough pieces over about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours, after which the pieces are removed, wiped with water, and individually glazed before a 12-hour final firing. Some pieces receive a gold glaze and are returned to the kiln for another 7 hours. Due to the need for slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Each piece is then carefully inspected, and a pin is attached to those that meet our standards. Currently, our success rate is around 70%. While this process requires significant time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile warmth of clay, the durability of pottery, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
