The 14k gold-filled material widely used in the mixandfun design studio is made by coating a layer of 1/20 14k gold onto a brass base. This is a popular choice in recent years, known for being easier to care for, more durable in color, and significantly more affordable than solid K gold.
Solid 14k gold, on the other hand, is pure 14k gold throughout, with a gold content of approximately 58.5%, complemented by silver, iron, or copper. Given Taiwan's climate, solid 14k gold is even easier to maintain and offers a more refined color. It's also a considerate option for those with sensitive skin.
Specially plated alloy is another material I frequently use. mixandfun carefully selects unplated chains and applies special plating, ensuring that the color remains vibrant under normal wear conditions for an extended period.
Care Instructions:
1. Always wear jewelry after dressing and remove it before changing into loungewear. It is not recommended to wear jewelry while bathing, visiting hot springs, or swimming.
2. For earrings, it is advisable to use the provided silicone stoppers to minimize the risk of loss.
3. Taiwan's climate is hot and humid. If jewelry will not be worn for an extended period, gently wipe it with a soft cloth before storing it in a sealed bag.
4. For delicate chains, develop the habit of fastening the clasp when removing them to reduce the chance of tangling.
5. Please understand that 14k gold-filled, solid 14k gold, or specially plated alloys will show signs of wear over time.
6. A simple care tip: If you notice any oxidation, don't panic. You can prepare a bowl of water with a little salt and a small piece of aluminum foil. Submerge your solid K gold or sterling silver jewelry for about 10 minutes, then remove and polish. It should regain its shine. (Material compositions may vary by brand). It's recommended to start with less expensive silver items for practice.
7. Place solid K gold or general alloy jewelry in your palm. Dip an old toothbrush in a small amount of toothpaste and gently brush for about half a minute, then rinse with clean water for a sparkling finish. (Material compositions may vary by brand). It's recommended to start with less expensive silver items for practice.
8. Antiqued or brass jewelry is less commonly used by mixandfun. Please refer to specialized sellers for proper care instructions.
9. Whether single earrings can be reordered depends on the style and available materials. Please feel free to inquire via private message.
10. We welcome private messages for custom orders or repairs.
