As a natural material processed with methods that minimize damage to the leather's integrity, it's natural to find minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "vein marks" on the surface. We carefully select our pieces during the cutting process, aiming to avoid these or place them on less visible or non-stress-bearing areas of the product. 2. Hand-Stitched Seams Our products are crafted entirely by hand, eschewing machine stitching. Before sewing, we meticulously mark stitch holes with a specialized awl, creating the signature wavy stitch pattern that distinguishes our work from machine-made items. While this process significantly extends production time, it is a crucial step where the artisan imbues the leather with soul and a warm, tactile feel. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges Before a piece is finished, the edges are carefully burnished. Our goal is to achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural appearance. "Cut Line" employs a unique edge-finishing technique. We begin by repeatedly sanding the edges with sandpaper until they are smooth, then apply an edge sealant to create a flat surface. This is repeated 2-3 times, followed by a layer of edge wax. Finally, we use a burnishing tool to polish the edges until they achieve a lustrous finish. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed items, "Cut Line" uses Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes imported from the United States. To ensure a uniform and natural coloration, we first dampen the leather surface. Then, using a sponge, we apply the dye layer by layer, gradually deepening the shade until the desired color is achieved. Once dry, a color-fixative is applied to enhance colorfastness. We also gently wipe the surface with water to remove any dust and further even out the color. As each piece is dyed by hand, subtle variations in color will occur, making every bag uniquely its own.
