Yinke's first picture book, "What Happened to Your Ears?", is the culmination of a picture book exhibition held at Treasure Hill Artist Village in October 2019. It records the reasons and process behind cat sterilization through the Trap-Neuter-Return (T.N.R.) method, transforming the T.N.R. story into a picture book. It is ideal for children to understand the ecosystem of coexistence between cats and humans, and also makes a heartwarming holiday gift.
Yinke's former studio, Treasure Hill Artist Village, is a magical place where many things happen simultaneously. Residents live there, artists create, offices operate, and various resident units function busily. While many humans bustle on the mountainside, there are also:
Squirrels chattering,
Birds chirping,
Trees rustling,
Kittens meowing.
Sharing the scenic beauty of the mountainside with many lives. We hope to share the creative insights gained during a year of residency with more people, and dedicate this work to the stray animals who have taught humans about love and sharing.

During nearly a year of residency at the artist village, I observed that the village cats, beloved by visitors during the day, also face the harsh realities of foraging and survival at night.
Although most village cats have clipped ears (a clipped ear signifies that the cat has undergone T.N.R., meaning Trap, Neuter, and Return), a few still have untrimmed ears. Currently, there are no partners assisting with T.N.R. within the village, leading to the birth of more than one litter of kittens each year. Records of deaths and reported captures can also be found on the website of the Taipei Animal Protection Office.
Therefore, over the past few months, I have been continuously visiting the village, surveying the total cat population and their sterilization status. The plan is to capture unsterilized cats to address issues of population increase, fighting, mating, and messiness. My colleagues and I have spent late nights in the village waiting and observing, dedicating significant time to achieve a better balance of coexistence.
We hope you enjoy it too. :)
