Fierce Tiger Cat Illustration. I'm fierce. SEA ice Represents Korean Artist Cat Postcards - Cards & Postcards - Paper

Product Description

Postcard Size: 135mm * 135mm "Haven't you ever been hissed at?" Haha~~~~~~ During my studies, I found a tiny kitten hiding in an engine one winter. The rescue process was filled with so many "hissing" sounds. But as soon as I touched the kitten, I braced myself for a bite. To my surprise, it became incredibly soft and cuddly, immediately seeking affection. Every day after that, whenever I wanted to hold this cat, it would still hiss menacingly but never bite. Once picked up, it would instantly start purring and cuddling – such a contrast. It's much like the image Hyejin painted: fierce yet adorable. When hung on the wall, it becomes the most charming cat artwork. We hope you'll find a sense of leisurely contentment in these artworks, shared with the cats. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923122_7fa4da2c9f_c.jpg Hyejin's cats diligently keep her company as she creates, and we can bring these beautiful moments into our lives. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102220_ba02803a86_c.jpg Framed, it becomes the perfect piece of home decor. The postcard size offers endless possibilities – use it as a greeting card or a delightful art piece. We recommend purchasing a set of multiple pieces for a beautiful display. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102245_abb81a4ae9_c.jpg The SEA ice team proudly presents the hand-painted artworks of Korean artist Hyejin. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5479026263_4b1f2dab16_b.jpg There's a small story behind why we decided to represent this brand. In late 2024, just as I was preparing to fly to Korea for a meeting, a sudden lockdown was announced. However, it was lifted just before the plane took off, and I arrived in Korea safely. Then, while on the subway, we were suddenly trapped in the carriage as a protest crowd surged in. We were squeezed so tightly we could barely breathe and couldn't move. My mind raced: What if this turns into a stampede? We kept encouraging each other to stay calm, to find ways to breathe, to keep our heads up, and to stay on our feet. Fortunately, after a few stops, the dense crowd disembarked at Yeouido Station. We were shaken and in tears. A few stops later, we exited the subway and unexpectedly came across Hyejin's exhibition. The cats' languid and serene postures instantly calmed the storm of emotions I had just experienced. We, who were lost and frightened, felt as if we had firmly returned to solid ground. From the bottom of my heart, I truly felt: It's wonderful that cats exist in this world. Hyejin's cat creations are such treasures. And so, this unexpected agency came to be. 🤍 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5479025978_c361304614_c.jpg Hyejin's style blends modern aesthetics with traditional Korean techniques, developed through slow, deliberate creation and hand-painting. We are deeply captivated by the retro, nostalgic feel in her works, reminiscent of the folk painting scrolls from Korea's Joseon Dynasty. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923222_46ac7b4975_c.jpg Every stroke meticulously renders exquisite details, creating artworks that invite prolonged admiration. Creating art with traditional Korean craftsmanship requires immense patience. The artist applies delicate layers of color, achieving rich textures and deep, saturated hues. Even the smallest creatures, like butterflies and grasshoppers, are depicted with soul and intricate detail. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008469_5cfdb8271f_c.jpg Each painting captures the essence of cats sharing our space. The artist conveys a message through the cats' "unhurried" and "quietly companionable" demeanor. Hyejin frequently holds solo exhibitions in Korea and has been creating art for over a decade. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102340_09288edf64_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923372_b9e7b97b2c_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923357_30bd7feac8_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923327_ebb7b5d094_b.jpg Hyejin primarily uses her own cats as inspiration, depicting them as mischievous with sharp gazes – truly embodying a "fierce yet cute" and characterful feline presence. There's a sense of conflict and harmony, a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. By incorporating contemporary styles and characters, she portrays the lives and thoughts of animals within traditional art. She utilizes Hanji, a Korean paper less commonly seen in the market, and meticulous brushwork techniques. This paper lends a warm overall tone to the artwork, while the precise brushstrokes ensure exquisite detail. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008479_1a3b230ced_c.jpg This warm feeling, this unique combination, allows contemporary painting styles to integrate seamlessly.
