The Story of Kamakura and the Sea - Necklaces - Silver Silver

Product Description

[As time passes, even cherished memories gradually fade, yet some remain vividly clear even after many years. The time I spent in Kamakura, Japan—a town where I lived for nine months—is something I will never forget. While visiting Kamakura with a friend who had come to Japan for a trip, I was watching the scenery outside the train window as it sped along the coast. Seeing two female students running and laughing so happily, I thought, “I have to live here!” And since I happened to be moving out of the dorm after graduation and needed to find a place, I actually ended up moving there. That's how I ended up living in a seaside town for about nine months. Just a short walk away, the vast ocean spread out before my eyes, and I was always with that beautiful scenery. It became a habit to go out and wander the beach at any time—morning, day, evening, or dawn. While wandering the sea, I often just gazed out at the ocean, but I also picked up a lot of sea glass washed up on the shore. Seaglass is formed when pieces of glass discarded in the sea are worn down by waves over a long time, until all sharp edges disappear. It is said to symbolize endurance and hope through suffering. I loved both its meaning and its beautiful shape, so I filled jars with seaglass and gave them as gifts to cherished people. Spending happy days there, Kamakura became the place I loved most in the world. I hope its verdant beauty and warm happiness reach everyone who receives this.
