The God Vishnu is all-pervading, he is the one who is all and who is within all. All beings benefit from Vishnu, who carries the energy of the mode of goodness. Vishnu means ‘to pervade.’ Vishnu, consort of Lakshmi, and the second god of the Hindu trinity, is the preserver. Brahma is the creator and Shiva the destroyer. Vishnu’s vehicle is Garuda, a huge eagle-like bird. Lord Vishnu’s preserving power has been manifested on Earth as ten different Avataras or incarna-tions, all with supernatural and superhuman powers. He comes to correct out-of-control evil and to manifest immense good. The most well-known Avataras of Vishnu are Rama and Krishna. Vishnu is known by many different names including Achyuta (imperishable), Anata (the endless), Janarddana (whom men worship), Kesava (the radiant), Madhusudana (destroyer of Madhu), Madhava (descendant of Madhu), Mukunda (deliverer), Narayana (who moves in the waters), Pitambara (clothed in yellow garments), and Purushottama (the highest of men, supreme spirit). Contemplating the Vishnu Yantra, we are immersed in the divine light world, where there is no duality of perception. It is the concentration on the image of Vishnu that fills us with the energy of goodness, and the illusion generated by the Maya of the material world is dissolved, and the world is perceived in the true light of the unity of all the creations of the Universe. In the Central part of the Yantra are represented: the point bindu and two intersecting triangles, with one pointing up and the other down, which represents the unity of opposites, in other words, the unity of the indivisible, which is the essence of Vishnu — the cause of all things that are outside of duality. Two triangles surround two lotuses: eight-petalled and twelve-petalled. All this geometric scheme is located in the protective square (bhupura).
