About Saga. Arita ware|Arita, the hometown of ceramics
About 400 years ago, pottery was discovered in the Senshu region of Arita, and clay firing technology was first used in Japan, so Arita became the birthplace of Japanese ceramics.
During these 400 years, the style of Arita ware has continued to evolve with the times, following the popular styles of each era while also retaining its former traditional charm, which is why many people love it so much.
In addition, Arita ware was not only popular in Japan, but also in Europe, the Middle East and other places in the 18th century, and became a trend overseas. Therefore, many works can be seen with a combination of Japanese and Western styles. Even today, many overseas tourists from Europe and the United States still come to Arita specifically for this purpose, which shows how great its fame is.
