The Phian is used in a process of cotton spinning to create the long slim needed for weaving tasks and other crafts and designs like crocheting or knitting depending on the artisan’s creativeness. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51442915669_f7e21fe567.jpg In the past, every household had to produce their own textiles for the family clothes. This was mostly done by the women while the men went out to work in the farms, but also working as technicians to fix and create the textile tools for their wives. Nowadays, hand-woven textiles has become quite rare because the craftsmen changed their careers, and the new generations don’t want to carry on this hand craft legacy. Fortunately, Uncle Peng, one of the Ban Tan villagers in Chiang Mai province, who has superb woodcraft skills and lots of experience working with those textile tools, uses his creativity and skills reform those tools into miniatures that work and move like the real ones. Because of his age he can not do everything he used to do before, but his work is still a perfect masterpiece because of the skills he has built up over many many years; and the love he has and add into his craft and work, making it a very valuable and collectible item.
