This work is a personal reminder: comfort doesn’t last forever. Taiwan is going through tough times, and we must stay ready to protect what we have.
The base color of soft gray-green shows a calm and quiet life. I added bright neon green on top, and before the paint dried, I wrote the word freedom in strong red—showing how comfort has been touched by danger. It’s a visual warning that our freedom is in trouble now.
This work doesn’t follow the usual rules of calligraphy or character structure—it’s purely driven by instinct.
For the calligraphy, I used my everyday makeup brushes—cut and reshaped—to emphasize the idea of using the tools we’re familiar with to stay aware, and to stand firm for democracy and liberty.
Why is this artwork so different? Because it shows my anger toward people who betray our country. They should go to hell right away.
