I CARE so it HURTs.
The four letters are ambigrams; read forwards, they say CARE, and upside down, they read HURT (if you can't quite see it, please refer to the last two images).
On an emotional level, I believe that when you care (CARE), you are susceptible to being hurt (HURT).
The back of the ring, meant to be a smooth surface, is covered in scars. This corresponds to CARE, signifying that only when I care can you inflict pain upon me.
The front of the ring features a wall, protecting me. The castle also echoes the inspiration behind this piece:
My high school club: Blue Castle.
The front of the ring corresponds to HURT, representing that after I've been hurt,
I will build a wall to shield myself from further pain.
On the side of the ring, the scars and the castle lines are interconnected. On one hand, it's because being hurt leads to building a protective wall. On the other hand, it symbolizes
rearranging a fractured, irregular inner self into an orderly, walled structure.
