Vegetable-tanned leather is known for its firm and durable texture. The surface color gradually darkens. Additionally, the natural oils from your hands and daily wear and tear create a polished, aged patina. This transforms leather goods made from vegetable-tanned leather into unique pieces that evolve with time and the owner's habits. Leather is a byproduct of the livestock industry. Therefore, farmers do not meticulously protect the cattle's skin. As a result, during their lives, cattle may experience insect bites, scratches, or punctures. Free-ranging cattle might also have branding marks, and as they grow, they develop growth lines and wrinkles. In cases of difficult births, there might be surgical scars from C-sections. When the cattle are large enough to be processed for meat, the skinning process can leave knife marks. These marks are faithfully preserved on the leather when it's transformed into cowhide, serving as proof of the animal's life journey. Therefore, this service cannot be used on dark-colored leathers such as black or deep blue. ▴ Some products require laser engraving before production. We cannot apply it to existing stock items, so they will need to be scheduled for separate production. Please contact customer service to inquire about production times when selecting this service. 🌞 Care and Maintenance -------------------- Frequent use is the best form of maintenance. It is advisable to avoid storing leather in humid environments. If the leather gets wet, wipe it immediately with a dry cloth and let it air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as this can cause the leather to harden and deteriorate. Once dry, you can apply leather conditioner to replenish the leather's oils. You may also spray a waterproofing agent to protect against accidental spills and enhance surface protection. If you need to store the leather item or will not be using it for an extended period, place it in an electronic dehumidifying cabinet with humidity controlled between 50%-60% to prevent mold. Alternatively, a sealed bag with a desiccant pack can achieve the same effect. Cowhide typically has natural variations in color, texture, and minor imperfections like scars, as it undergoes minimal grinding and surface coating. If you require a perfectly flawless surface, it may be difficult to meet this expectation, and we regret that we cannot accept requests for "flawless leather." Furthermore, once personalization such as engraving or laser carving has been applied, returns will not be accepted unless there was a production error.
