A turquoise matte glaze that exhibits a vivid greenish-blue, reminiscent of southern seas. Fine-grained, smooth white clay that enhances the glaze's hue. This 7-inch plate is created by combining these two elements. While called a 7-inch plate, its diameter of approximately 22cm makes it slightly larger than average. It can be used as a dish for one or as a serving platter, suitable for a wide array of culinary creations. For breakfast, serve toast, salad, and eggs. For lunch, create a delightful one-plate meal. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done entirely by hand in my studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. Applying glaze by hand creates unique flow and variations in color depth. While it may not possess the uniformity of mass-produced items, you can appreciate the colors and atmosphere that only handmade pieces can offer. The plate you receive will be the one shown in the product images. To minimize scratching your table, the base of the plate has been sanded smooth before delivery. Please note that this glaze is designed to develop fine cracks (craquelure) over time with use. We have color-corrected the images to be as close as possible to the actual product. However, this particular blue is challenging to capture accurately on screen. The actual item might appear slightly more yellowish-green than depicted in the images. Therefore, I apply a waterproofing treatment to all ceramic pieces before they are sent to you. Dishes that have undergone waterproofing treatment do not require the traditional rice-water soaking (mezame) at home. After a light wash upon arrival, they are ready for immediate use. Dishes that have already been treated will be shipped within 3 days.
