I create my works based on the traditional Japanese craft of Ikkanbari. Ikkanbari is a craft in which a basket product is covered entirely in white washi paper, then decorated with colored washi paper and cloth, and finally finished with a coat of persimmon tannin and water-based varnish.
Many of the pieces use recycled fabrics and paper, but my work uses more everyday materials.
The bottom is decorated with ikkanbari and the sides are decorated with colorful cloth tape. It can be used not only as a storage box for small items, but also as a wall hanging. It comes with a cloth cover, so you can place it on the inside or outside of the box depending on what you put in it.
