Made at famous LOMO! SUPER POPULAR SOVIET SMENA-8M 35mm FILM CAMERA WITH T-43 40mm F4 LENS IN ORIGINAL PAPER BOX!!! ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) First postwar Smena that was in production in 1952, start of very successful series of folk cameras manufactured in millions. Bodies of first cameras were made from bakelite and has nicer design than the newer ones, but latest cameras was more light and reliable. Smena camera is much smaller than for example Zorki or Zenit and was very inexpensive in Soviet terms. ITEM'S CONDITION: NEW OLD STOCK, NEVER USED The camera was never used before, just stored since 1990s. The lens is clean, without scratches or fungus, focusing and aperture are smooth. All shutter speeds looks appropriate. Viewfinder is clean. Film wind and rewind also works fine. Cosmetically the camera is in fine condition, but with some signs of very long contact with nylon case, just examine item's photos, please. All functions are available. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Brand: LOMO. * Model: Smena-8M * Frame size 24x36mm. * Film type: any 135 type modern film cassette with usual 35mm film. * Central shutter provide speeds 1/250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30, 1/15 & B. There is two scales connected with shutter speed: scale of weather symbols on top of the lens and usual shutter speeds at right side of the lens. * Synchronization with flash at any shutter speed, only cable PC connection is available. * Shutter release button has standard conic groove for cable release. * Lens: three element coated T-43 (Triplet-43) 40mm, same lenses provides very clear, sharp and contrast images. * Aperture from 4 to 16 without clicks. There is two types of scale connected with aperture: usual scale and scale of film speeds in ASA and DIN. * Scale of film speed allows to use weather symbols connected with shutter speed, thus You can receive properly exposed images without any automatic or light meter. Modern negative films will provide very good quality in that case. * Film speeds: from 16 to 250 ASA (no clicks), You can use any other films with sensitivity more than 250 ASA, but You'll have over-exposition at bright Sun and You'll have to use neutral filters. * Also presented the scale of sharpness depth. At aperture 16 You'll receive huge depth of sharpness, from 1 meter to infinity according with those scale! At latest Smena-35 camera those very useful scale was removed. * Focusing from 1m to infinity according with scale of distances or with symbols of distances (portrait, group, building). You can to use external rangefinder "Blik" to make focusing more exact, but in most of cases definition of distance "on eye" provides excellent sharpness. * Filter mount: 35.5x0.5mm. * Tripod mount: standard groove 1/4 inch. * Dimensions: 60 x 78 x 116 mm. * Film winding is from cassette to take-up spool or to other cassette. You can use any modern type 135 film cartridge with old type take-up cassette, in that case You have no to make film rewind. You should to wind film after each shutter release, in other case You'll receive few shots at one frame, those feature allows to make "trick" shots with multi-exposition. * During whole film rewind You have to keep the shutter release button pressed. * Easy in using, light and compact camera will Your first step to serious artistic shootings! * The camera was made at LOMO plant in USSR/Russia in 1992. I don't know any other Soviet camera which has so beautiful ratio "quality/price" than Smena-8M! I used same camera during more than 12 years and always received beautiful images in very difficult conditions of shootings. I never afraid to broken or to loose those simple camera, but it survived all adventures with Me.
