Product Description

Stool celebrates the 10th anniversary of a Japanese forest conservation organization More Trees, founded by a musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. We have engaged in activities with keyword “Connect urban city and forest”, and we put “connection” as a concept of this new product, wishing to bring awareness and offer an opportunity for people to think of forest. It is designed by a collaboration of Jasper Morrison and Wataru Kumano. We believe that they are the perfect designers to embody the concept into product forms. Born in 1959 in London, Jasper Morison is a world renowned designer who designs widely from furniture and architecture to urban space. With his principle “Super Normal”, he has created tirelessly beautiful, simple and universal designs. Wataru Kumano who was born in 1980 in Tokyo, learned woodworking skills and furniture designs in Finland, and was influenced by an affinity of forest blended in Finnish lifestyle. His designs bring richness to the space. The Stool was created by two wonderful designers combining their talent and unique features, It is made of fine Japanese timbers from plentiful forests and made with the best use of craftsmanship, so that it will accompany your life for so long. It is the product which embodies our vision, connects what we have been through and will go through, and also links people all over the world with forest. It comes in three sizes, "Single", "Double" and "Long" and each has a beautiful shape of seat surface. Just like music, it makes very rhythmic expression when arranging multiple of it and links you and your living space. It is made of Hinoki from Gifu where one of the More Trees Forests is located. Hinoki from the area is a representative in Japan for having a good scent and a good strength as material, and has been used for traditional buildings such as temples for a long time. It is made manually by local artisans in the area.It is a knock-down kit and you will be connected with them through assembling parts. Its “super normal” design offers a variety of use beyond the function as a stool, and it will enrich your life and space. STOOL [ Long] Design: Jasper Morrison + Wataru Kumano Material: Hinoki (Japanese Cypress) from Higashi-Shirakawa, Gifu Size: [L] D330 x W1200 x H405mm Part of proceeds from sales of the Stool will be used for forest conservation activities.
