**|Introduction|**
A fundamental method of shaping clay, pottery on the wheel combines the steady rotation of a potter's wheel with the skilled hands of the artisan to transform raw clay into everyday vessels with symmetrical, rounded forms. This class will guide you through the essential techniques of wheel throwing and impart knowledge about ceramics and materials. Through consistent movements and pacing, let's embark on a journey of self-healing together 🫶🏻.
**|Class Content| Minimum 2 participants, Maximum 4 participants**
This course begins with foundational wheel throwing, guiding beginners from scratch. We will cover materials, equipment usage, and the step-by-step process of wheel throwing: centering, opening, widening, raising, shaping, removing excess clay, and refining. Every stage will be meticulously practiced together, so beginners need not worry 😌.
The basic forms we will practice include straight-sided cups, bowls, and plates.
While these are our foundational shapes, you are welcome to explore variations based on your individual feel and comfort with the clay after practicing the basics.
Each participant will complete at least one piece. You may select a single glaze color from our available options. After the class, KO CERAMICS will handle the trimming and glazing of your work.
| Those interested in experiencing glazing and trimming can add these services on the day of the class |
• Wheel Throwing with Glazing Session | Additional 40 minutes: For a comprehensive understanding of the ceramic creation process, after your first session is complete and your piece has undergone bisque firing (2-3 weeks), we will arrange another time to guide you through glazing techniques. You'll glaze your piece personally 🫶🏼.
• Wheel Throwing with Trimming Session | 2-2.5 hours each: Understand the ceramic wheel-throwing process. After your first session, we will schedule a second class. Once your piece has dried for a week, you will be guided through trimming techniques and demonstrations to refine your first-session work.
